Prove the fraud. Protect what is yours.
Fraud drains budgets and credibility. Aftermath Investigations provides Tampa private investigator support for insurance companies, attorneys, and employers who need facts—not rumors—about suspicious claims, internal theft, and business deception.
Our role is to gather lawful evidence: background context, surveillance with time-stamped video, witness interviews when appropriate, and a written report your counsel can use.
Once fraud is proven and money may be recoverable, our asset recovery team can help trace proceeds where the facts support it.
We start with a case review: claim file, employment records, prior statements, and the questions your attorney or claims adjuster needs answered. Background research maps addresses, associates, and patterns. Surveillance captures activity in context with time stamps. When useful, we interview witnesses. Findings go into a clear written report.
For visual documentation needs, see our surveillance page. Identity and history questions often pair with background checks.
Useful evidence is obtained lawfully, labeled, and stored with a usable chain of custody. Our investigators can explain methods and observations in testimony when required. We do not trespass, illegally record audio in prohibited settings, or invent activity that was not observed.
Avoid a public confrontation before you understand the facts. Preserve emails, POS logs, access records, and inventory counts. Limit internal discussion. A discreet investigation can confirm or clear a suspicion without tipping the subject early.
Claim investigations often turn on a short, well-timed surveillance window and a report that matches the file questions. Turnaround depends on the subject’s schedule and location. We communicate progress so adjusters and counsel can decide next steps without waiting in the dark.
Insurance, workers’ compensation, and employee-theft files are billed by the hour. Standard investigation time starts at $100 per hour. Complex matters start at $150 per hour. When the assignment is surveillance, that schedule applies instead: $95 per hour per investigator with a 4-hour minimum, $375 for a half day, and $725 for a full day. Most investigations begin with a retainer of $500–$2,500, applied to billable services and expenses. See investigation rates.
Surveillance can document what is visible in public or from lawful vantage points. It cannot include illegal entry, prohibited audio recording, or harassment. We brief clients on boundaries before cameras go out so expectations stay realistic.

We also coordinate with counsel on what not to do: do not tip the subject with a dramatic confrontation, do not seize devices without authority, and do not publish accusations on social media. A quiet, documented investigation protects the claim file and your credibility if the matter proceeds to a hearing or settlement discussion. When video and records tell the same story, decision-makers can act with confidence.
